# Master Rotation

Rotating the device correctly is an important part of achieving accurate measurements with Moasure.

Watch this tutorial to learn when to rotate the device, how quickly to rotate it, and how to avoid sudden movements that can affect measurement accuracy.

## Why Rotation Matters

Moasure uses motion sensors to track movement and orientation throughout a measurement.

Sudden or abrupt rotations can make it more difficult for the device to accurately track its position.

The goal isn't to rotate the device as quickly as possible. Instead, rotate it **smoothly and gradually** while moving between pause points, allowing the device to continuously track the change in orientation.

To achieve the best results:

* Rotate the device **gradually** while moving.
* Avoid sudden twists or abrupt changes in direction.
* Complete the rotation before placing the device at the next pause point.

## Rotating with Moasure STICK

Gradually rotate your Moasure device over the course of moving from one point to another. Avoid suddenly rotating the device.

When using Moasure STICK, begin rotating the device as you walk towards the next pause point.

Rather than waiting until you reach the next point and twisting the STICK, spread the rotation smoothly throughout your movement.

#### ✓ Correct

* Rotate gradually while walking.
* Spread the rotation across the movement.
* Place the device once the required orientation has been reached.

#### ✗ Avoid

* Twisting the STICK suddenly.
* Rotating the device after it has been placed.
* Making abrupt changes in direction.

## Rotating Without Moasure STICK

{% embed url="<https://vimeo.com/849497987>" %}

The same principles apply when measuring without Moasure STICK.

Rotate the device gradually as you move rather than picking it up and quickly turning it just before placing it down.

Smooth, continuous rotation allows Moasure to track orientation more accurately.

## When Should You Rotate?

Rotate the device whenever the **reference point** needs to face a different direction.

Common examples include:

* Turning around a corner.
* Following a curved boundary.
* Changing the edge or wall being measured.
* Switching to a different reference point orientation.

If no rotation is needed, simply continue measuring with the device facing the same direction.

## Key Takeaways

* Rotate the device **gradually while moving**, not after you arrive.
* Spread the rotation evenly between pause points.
* Avoid sudden twists or abrupt movements.
* Complete the rotation before placing the device.
* Keep your movement smooth and controlled throughout the measurement.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.moasure.com/en/moasure-one-and-moasure-2-series/your-moasure-device/measuring-technique/master-rotation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
