# Ignored Pause Points

Sometimes furniture, obstacles or the layout of a room may prevent you from reaching your next required wall or feature within the green timing window.

Rather than rushing to reach the next placement, you can make an **ignored pause point** before continuing.

An ignored pause point gives LX1 the pause it needs without adding anything to your floor plan.

***

### When to Use an Ignored Pause Point

Aim to reach your next required placement and pause while the timing feedback is still **green – up to 9 seconds**. If necessary, you can continue into the **amber** section, but make sure you pause before the timer reaches red.

If you can't comfortably reach the next wall or feature in time, use an ignored pause point.

For example, you may need to:

* Move around furniture or another obstacle
* Cross a larger room
* Take a longer route to reach an accessible part of a wall
* Navigate through a restricted or cluttered area

**Don't rush to reach the next placement.** Use an ignored pause point and then continue measuring at a steady, controlled pace.

***

### How to Make an Ignored Pause Point

1. Find a **suitable, stable surface** along your route.
2. Place LX1 flat on the surface with the **LEDs facing upwards**.
3. Let go of LX1 and allow it to become completely still.
4. Wait for the point to be captured.
5. Pick LX1 back up and continue towards your next required placement.

Because LX1 is placed with the **LEDs facing upwards**, the captured point is treated as an **ignored pause point**, so **nothing is added to your floor plan**.

***

### Using More Than One Ignored Pause Point

If you still can't comfortably reach the next required wall or feature within the green timing window, you can make another ignored pause point.

Continue in this way until you can reach the required placement without rushing.

***

### Best Practice

* Aim to pause while the timing feedback is still **green**
* Don't rush to reach the next wall or feature
* Use a **suitable, stable surface** for an ignored pause point
* Always place LX1 with the **LEDs facing upwards**
* Let go and wait until the point has been captured before picking LX1 back up
* Continue measuring at a **steady, controlled pace**

Using ignored pause points when needed helps you maintain good measuring technique while moving around obstacles or across larger spaces.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.moasure.com/en/moasure-lx1/measure-with-moasure-lx1/ignored-pause-points.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
